King's Cliff

That's the name of the lovely little hotel we stayed in. It was converted from an old house. All the rooms had names of Shakespeare's plays. We had the pleasure of staying in Macbeth and Tempest. My room actually opened into the service corridor and one of the rooms is actually accessed from the restaurant.

Like all hotels in Ooty, the grounds were very well kept. Flowery shrubs abound. It was absolutely glorious in the early morning sun. Unfortunately, we never really had the time to enjoy the grounds. We actually encountered people who appeared to be regulars to the hotel. An escape to a hill station is a perfect way to escape the summer heat.

We made the mistake of ordering western cuisine for our first dinner. Bland soup and rubbery lamb do not a good dinner make. We wised up the following evening and ordered Indian. Is it actually possible to find bad Indian food in India?
