The Weekend Begins

Sari was cooking for Anjali. It's her last evening in Bangalore after a five-week visit. Edmund had just arrived in town as well. So it was the perfect opportunity to kill several birds...

Cookie and Reddy were already there when we arrived. Haven't seen them in ages. Cookie is now a true yoga fiend. She looked so slim and toned. Anjali remarked that she now looks exactly as she did when they were in college.

The wonderful thing about people that have known each other for such a long and still not just talk to each other but actually love each other is their ability to relive their shared pasts in living detail. However, there are some of us that are better at embellishing stories than others. We all remember different aspects of the same shared experiences... who smoked what how many times and who's got a Krishna tattoo on her 'chest'... It all makes for a wonderfully entertaining time.

Saritha was initially fretting... she didn't have rice and things in the kitchen were not going to her expectations. But when it was served, everything was perfect. Crab curry and pomfret were excellent. I always love the roast chicken she makes, whatever the recipe. Tonight's offering was spicier than previous times but perfect for everyone there.

By the time we arrived at i-Bar, it was past 10. Unfortunately, this must be a really off week for them. Once again, the place was practically dead. We managed to up our numbers since Armaity & Viraf, Savi and Smitha were already there. Ice next door was having a 'snow party' - ice on drinks and drinks on ice or something to that effect... Sean was on the their list and eventually went to check it out. Bt he didn't say anything about it when he returned. In that case, I don't think we missed anything.

Armaity had on a really interesting top. We had a debate as to who was showing more cleavage or chest, depending on your perpective.

The weather had gone slightly warmer in the past week. Hardly a breeze but it was still cool under the stars.

For some strange reason, Shiva the bartendar remembered that I wanted more sugar in my mojito. Me? Sugar? That will have to be corrected the next time. Closing time was upon us very soon after that.

We had one more stop to make before calling it a night. Pratap was having a barbeque at home on Cunningham Road.

He had told me earlier that it would go on until the wee hours. By the time we arrived after midnight, some people were actually leaving. But the party was still on. His music was still on a good volume and the barbe was still burning.

Part of his clan was there. But Sowmya and Anandi had yet to show. Ani finally caught up with us. It's amazing how these neighbours had never met. Ani must have passed the house a hundred times. She even joked that she tried peeping into the yard of this amazing old house in the heart of town.

It was good to catch up but the weekend had only just begun. A full schedule awaited.
