We decided to have dinner at Cosmo Village. I was greeted by dim candlelight when I arrived. How romantic, right? Not really. They’ve not had power for an hour already and were promised by the BTSC that it would be up again shortly. Ya, right.

It was funny that the lack of light in the kitchen meant that some dishes like the Penang curry were not available. I guess the paste had to be made from scratch and that would not have been possible with the proper lighting. Fortunately, the power did return by about 8.30 pm and we actually got what we wanted, after sending our waiter back and forth.
Despite a reminder to the kitchen to make the Tom Yum more authentic, i.e. more spicy and more sour, the chef obviously did not trust that we would know the difference. Sharon had to ask for more lime to be brought to the table. The pork vindaloo and the two lamb curries were however excellent, meaning that we had to order more rice for HL (there’s a running joke that he always needs more rice.)

We got there about 10 pm, just in time for the second ‘fashion walk’. The space inside was quite small, so it was expected but still funny when the staff came round to tuck people in, against the wall that is, to make room for the models to walk through.

There was a certain degree of kitsch but I did wish there was more though. There was no kitsch in the fashion, not on the models and not on any of the guests. I guess it would take a lot for anyone to be able to pull off the look and not be ridiculed.

They managed to get a really good crowd. I guess that was the reason they stretched the closing a little and by the time we left, it was actually past midnight.
