The Chugh Family

... and then they were all grown up

The Chugh family are the 4 A's. Arvind, Amrita, Ayesha and Aanya. They actually moved to Bangalore about the same time as I did but our paths didn't cross until about a year later when I met Amrita at the i-BAR...

Since then, they have become an important part of my huge extended family here in Bangalore. It's amazing how time flies and the girls have actually graduated from CIS and have actually completed their first year of college in the U.S.

At this moment, they are somewhere in the Himalayas, enjoying the thin air of the high altitudes. Amrita SMS'd on Saturday from Lhasa and they were going to start driving from there through the Everest base camp, right down to Kathmandu.

They are actually covering part of the journey undertaken by Micheal Palin in his documentary for the BBC. His website Palin's Travels gives plenty of details and truly stunning photographs of all the trips he had done. Watching the DVD of this wonderful travelogue on the big screen really brought a huge sense of awe to every scene. I can just imagine our dear 4 A's experiencing all this first hand.

The Tibet to Nepal journey was supposed to be by landcruiser - the landcruiser tranformed itself into a well-worn mini bus before we started - these things happen in such a mystical land! We refered to it thru the journey as the Magic Bus and cajoled it with praise and threats across the country all the way to the Nepal border where it finally breathed its last. I loved the bus - seen better days [like me] but still with a lot of fight left in it [like me]. pix to follow..
